Weekend Cycling Events
Next Monday marks the kick-off of Bike/Walk Week here in the Twin Cities, and there is plenty going on this weekend.
Twin Cities Tour de Cure: One of the Twin Cities largest charity rides kicks off at Minnehaha Falls Saturday morning. As of right now the Diabetes foundation is coming up a little bit short of their stated fundraising goal, so it would be a good time to pitch in.
Shift Gears Saturday: Explore Minnesota is getting rolling with their bicycle specific saturday programs around the state, right in St. Paul. They invite you to come out and ride the Gateway State Trail from 10:00-12:00 with an Afton Area Naturalist. Call 651-998-1303 to reserve your place for this 15 mile roundtrip ride. All ages welcome, bring your own bike.
Biking on National Trails Day: Want to check out some of the bike trails in and around Fort Snelling State park, but don’t have all the necessary equipment? Want to get to know more about the area’s natural and cultural resources while riding a bike? Join us for a 7.5 mile interpretive bike ride in and around the park. Bikes and helmets are available for use (free) and the program will start at the Snelling Lake beach buildings. This program has a limit of 10 people and requires reservations. Northeast Ride: This Saturday is the first annual Northeast Ride through… Northeast Minneapolis. Ride Details Start & End: Northeast Armory, across the street from Beltrami Park on Broadway Ave. NE. Ride Time: 10am-2pm.
Tour de Luce 2k12: Here are the details from Mpls Bike Love. Sunday, June 3rd 1:00PM – 6:00PM • Minneapolis, MN, Spend a Sunday afternoon riding to each of the 4 metro Pizza Luce locations for what else but beer and pizza. Bring dollars.
