The Urban Assault Ride is the largest bicycle obstacle event series in the nation, and it is returning to Minneapolis for the 5th time on June 10! Take one part bike ride, one part scavenger hunt, one part obstacle race, and one part costume party, put them all together, shake them up, and you have the Urban Assault Ride!
You and a teammate will hop on your bikes from Peace Coffee and head out on the town. Explore new routes and pick your path between seven checkpoints spread throughout the city. You’ll know about most of them in advance, but we’ll throw a couple of mysteries your way, so some ingenuity and route finding will come in handy! At each checkpoint, you’ll jump off your bikes and complete a crazy obstacle, mind bending puzzle, or funky challenge before hopping back on your bike and continuing on to the next checkpoint.
After completing all of the checkpoints, race back to the finish line where a huge party awaits you, New Belgium Brewing style: delicious beer, good music, great friends, fun contests, and awesome prizes!
It’s all fun and games, but it’s more than just fun and games! The Urban Assault Ridestands for bikes. It’s just as easy to grab a bike lock on the way out the door as it is to grab your car keys, so next time, take your bike! The Urban Assault Ride has partnered with Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists (MORC) and the Midtown Greenway Coalition. The Urban Assault Ride comes to town one weekend a year, but these great organizations work all year-long to ensure that Minneapolis continues to be the best bike city in America!
Urban Assault Ride weekend kicks off Friday night, June 8 with a beer bike ride starting from the Midtown Greenway Coalition’s HQ at the Midtown Bike Center, beginning at 6pm. ( https://www.facebook.com/events/339317809466787/) We’ll enjoy some New Belgium beer before heading out for a spin around the city, then head downtown to The Local!
