Ok so technically it is National Bike Month, but that also means that it is Minnesota Bike Month. One slight quirk that we have mentioned before is that the Twin Cities actually celebrates Bike to Work Day in June so while we won’t be officially celebrating that. Minneapolis: 30 Days of Biking Celebration Party, One on One Bicycle Studio.
Lakeville: Ironman Bike Ride
The Minnesota Ironman® Bicycle Ride (MIBR), established in 1967, is the longest running century bike ride in Minnesota. It is considered the Season Opener cycling event for the upper Midwest. With routes of 100, 68, 30 and 17 miles, this single day bike tour has something for every cyclist. The MIBR marks the start of the cycling season.
Twin Cities: Living Green Expo (May 5 & 6)
Produced by Minnesota Environmental Partnership this year’s Living Green Expo will include major bicycle components sponsored by BikeMN. Look for fun, educational rides and classes for families, women, beginning bicyclists and more. Bicycle skills rodeos each day will help your kids learn how to drive their bike with a smile. Finally, a first class bicycle fashion show will bring the best of bicycle styles from around the country to the MN state fairgrounds.
STATEWIDE: National Bike To School Day
The National Center for Safe Routes to School is planning a first-ever national bike to school event and celebration. Save the date and get ready to shift into a new gear with Bike to School Day on May 9, the Wednesday before Bike to Work Week. More information about this inaugural event will be coming soon!
