Hey, its Wednesday, which means it’s time for us to catch up on all of the week’s cycling news that you haven’t been reading about on Cycle Twin Cities.
On Sunday Minneapolis Musette hosted a King of the Mountain (KOM) competition in St. Paul. Check out the re-cap of the event and some pretty killer photographs over at MM.
Have some nice pictures of the Midtown Greenway during winter? Rails-to-Trails Conservancy is looking for them. Head over to get the full details, but hurry, they need the pictures for publication soon.
Sad news out of North Minneapolis from last week. Reportedly 22-year-old Jody Patzner Jr. was shot and killed for his bike while delivering food to a family friend. Three men stopped Jody and demanded his bike. After surrendering it, he was shot while trying to flee. On Friday there was news of an arrest having been made, but by Monday police had announced that no charges would be filed. According to Kare 11 “A memorial fund has been opened at Wells Fargo in Patzner’s name. It’s called the Jody Lyn Marvin Patzner, Jr. Memorial Fund.” The funeral for Patzner is scheduled for today (April 18), at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Minneapolis.
We had our own photo re-cap of ARTCRANK, but here is a little bit more (almost all of posters) from Bike Jerks.
Urban Velo took a look at the Dero Fixit Public Bike Repair Station. For those that need a reminder Dero is a company run right here in the Twin Cities. One of these was prototyped at The Wedge Co-op in Minneapolis.
The 37th Ave Greenway is all done, and Reuben takes a good hard look at it, with pictures included!
Still looking for a job this summer? Bike Fixtation just posted a job to Craigslist that you might be interested in. “Starting hours would be 10-15hrs/wk with an opportunity to grow with the company.”
As always we wrap it up with a video. We love this… oh so much. Minneapolis Rappers Franz Diego and J Hard Perform “Bike Song”. Even if you don’t love rapping, check them out as they roll through the streets of South Minneapolis.
