Weekend Cycling Events: 7.8.11

Weekend Cycling Events

We have checked all of our usual places, and from the best that we can tell, there isn’t actually a whole lot going on this weekend.  In the Twin Cities We have a busy couple of weeks lined up after this, but for this week check out one of these events or some alternative listed below.

Readers if you know of something happening that you don’t see listed here, put it into the comments section for everyone to see.

Saturday:

Velo Kids ProgramMaybe with some hard work and an early start, you kid could be the next one to represent Minnesota at the Junior Track Championships.  Head to the NSC Velodrome in Blaine.  1:00-2:30 for kids ages 9-12, they get a chance to get out on the track for cycling skills and racing games.

Sunday:

Twin Cities 3 Speed Adventure Society Join Joe and his fellow three seed compatriots starting at 9:00 Sunday morning for a tour of Saint Paul and a nice relaxed ride, just remember – feel free to leave the tweed at home.

Alternatives:

Looking for something else to do, why not try one of these:

Ride the Dakota Rail-Trail Extension – Earlier this week we got a post from Joe Reinemann about the extension to the Dakota Rail-Trail, it looks pretty sweet, check out his post (link above) and then hit the trail.

Sub-24 Hour Overnight Bike Camping – Follow the link to check out an excellent post by Jim Thill of Hiawatha Cyclery and his overnight bicycle camping adventure.  There are plenty of places around the Twin Cities Metro Area to give this a shot.  Readers – do you have any suggested destinations?

While not a bike event per-se, I’m surprised you didn’t mention Lifetime Triathlon and the fact that much of South Minneapolis’ Grand Rounds will be closed for the race.
