Sunday was another great day for an event. Despite threatening clouds, the turnout for the Lyndale Ave Open Streets event was more than we expected or could have hoped for. Bicycles and walkers were everywhere, and despite being sparsely packed with vendors, people found ways to fill the spaces of the open 20 blocks.
Along the route, we saw a yard sale or two, residents offering free water and lemonade, a few bands playing street side, and the bubble man (check out the picture of the day today). Our favorite things to see along the route? The Slow races on NiceRide bikes, the rolling full band on a bicycle, a train of 10 recumbents, and last but certainly not least the Nice Ride bicycle powered Ice Cream maker.
We have to give a huge thanks to the Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition and Bike Walk Twin Cities for organizing and making this event happen. We hope that there is another one soon, because we don’t want to wait until next year.
