We aren’t much for expos, basically you walk around but don’t actually do much. But having said that Bike Expos still have bikes involved so we figure we will give these a shot. In the next month and a half two expos (or experiences according to the organizers) will take place in the Twin Cities area centered around bicycles.
Friday, Mar 18th through Sunday, Mar 20th the Mall of America Best Buy rotunda will be home to all things bicycle “lifestyle” related. According to the Mall’s website;
“Discover how good you will feel and how fun riding a bicycle can be at the Lifestyle Bike Experience. It’s your first step to learn 100’s of ideas for a healthier you. Swing by to discover how easy, fun and safe bicycling can be. In this interactive area you will learn: what type of bicycles makes riding easy for the whole family; clothing that is fashionable, yet comfortable; fun places to explore by bike; safe bike riding tips; plus many HaveFunBiking.com games and prizes.”
This even seems pretty much geared to those who potentially haven’t ridden a bike in years, so much of it won’t be applicable to you, but if you are looking for something to do anyway, why not head out to the mall?
The Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota (BikeMN) is also coming back for their second year of the Active Living Bike Expo at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. This is on Friday and Saturday, the same weekend of the Ironman ride and should be geared more towards the experienced cyclist with products and gear, classes and advocacy information.
The event is on Friday April 29th and Saturday April 30th. Admission is Free but it requires either a donation to a food shelf or to BikeMN, so be prepared to bring some cash. This is a great introduction to the spring riding season, and will get us ready to ride 100 miles on Sunday May 1st at the Ironman, yikes that’s coming up soon. Check out more information on the Facebook event page.
