Twin Cities’ First Bicycle-themed Bookstore

Now Open Boneshaker Books in Seward.

When it comes to bicycle themed establishments, bookstore is not the most natural fit.  If there is one thing that you probably want to avoid doing while riding a bike it is read a book.  But then again you can’t really drink and ride easily and that doesn’t stop bars and coffee shops from the bike theme, so there you go.

This past weekend Boneshaker Books opened their doors to the public at 2002 23rd Avenue South in Minneapolis.  The all-volunteer bookstore is bucking the recent and unfortunate trend of independent bookstores closing their doors all across the Twin Cities.  Of course the name Boneshaker derives from a term used in describing the earliest bicycles, which, without tires to speak of really bounced the crap out of the rider, luckily we’ve progressed quite nicely since then.

We didn’t have a chance to check it out yet but we will let you know when we do.

Gotta love the logo.
