Minneapolis Community Education Bike Classes

Winter is a great time to work on cycling skills.  We have already shown you a few ways to get onto the bike indoors, but maybe going shoulder to shoulder with amateur racers isn’t quite your speed.  Maybe you just are getting into cycling and want to learn how to perform basic repairs.  Maybe this spring (assuming it ever comes) you will start commuting.  Well for you folks there is Minneapolis Community Education hosted by the Minneapolis Public Schools.

Knowledgable people for reasonable prices?  Sounds like a winner to me.  They offer three classes for you cycling improvement (click on the title for a link to the registration page;

Biking: Winter Riding;

Class Description
Winter is part of our identity in Minnesota, and you can get out and enjoy it on a bicycle. Learn how to extend your bicycle commuting into those colder and darker months with this introductory course. We will discuss lighting, clothing, useful gear, and practical safety issues about using bicycles during cold conditions.

Biking: Tune-up Your Bike & Yourself;

Class Description
Are you itching to go out biking after a long winter? Get ready to hit the ground riding. Dust off and grease up that bike. Learn how to patch tires and adjust the brakes. Get your helmet properly fitted. Review safe riding practices. Get tips on route planning and find out about online resources. Bring your helmet and your bike.

Bike Commuting 101;

 

Class Description
Join the 2nd largest commuter pool of bicyclists in the United States. Learn how to use your bike to get back and forth to work-even in early spring. We’ll discuss wearing the right clothes to stay warm, cycling at night, safety, and basic bike maintenance. Bring your bike! Instructor Harry Greenberg is a League of American Bicyclist certified trainer and founder of the Bike Commuter Institute.
